Which engineering is best for IAS, IPS, UPSC, & govt jobs (PSU)
Civil engineering is one of the best engineering branches you can choose if you want to go for government jobs especially for UPSC and PSU sector.
First of all civil engineering can be a good engineering branch for UPSC and for students who want to become IAS and IPS because,
among 26 optional subjects which are there for optional paper in mains exam of UPSC there is civil engineering as optional subject which you can choose and
since you already have good amount of knowledge about it from your under graduation, you can save a lot of time during the UPSC preparation in optional paper and
because the civil engineering optional subject is a scoring subject and you can score good marks in it which can help you balance The other marks in in general studies paper and score good marks in the mains exam.
Apart from that in civil engineering you will learn about different things like mathematics and problem solving skills and those skills can help you a lot in clearing the civil Service Aptitude Test which is the second exam of prelims also known as CSAT.
Even though this paper is a qualifying paper but is considered to be one of the most toughest paper in UPSC exam because
it also has negative markings and it contains questions that will test the candidate’s logical reasoning, analytical thinking, problem-solving, general mental ability, and mathematical skills.

you can also choose electrical engineering optional subject which can save you a lot of time during the main exam preparation and it is also an asking subjects so you can score more marks in the optional even if you lack in general studies preparation.
Apart from that, you can also get other government jobs like in PSU sector, many companies hire electronical and Electrical engineers, like
You can also get a job in Indian Engineering Service and work for the central government like you would work as IAS officer and look after the development.

Mechanical engineering is another good engineering branch you can choose to become IAS.
Mechanical engineering is an optional subject that you can choose in the main exam to score good marks and save time for preparation of other subjects in the main exam of UPSC at the same time because you will be learning skills like problem-solving in your undergraduate Engineering you can get more chance to clear the CSAT exam of prelims.
You can also get a job in the public sector undertaking companies through the GATE exam like BHEL, SAIL, IOCL, GAI, BEL, Power Grid, Oil Indian Limited, and Sanchar Nigam Limited, THDC India Limited, PEC Limited, etc.
Mechanical engineers also can write the state-level public Service exam and get a government job and you can also choose to write Indian Engineering Service exam and get a government job in that.
The only disadvantage is that mechanical engineering has high competition.

Chemical engineering is the last best engineering branch you can choose if you want to become IAS or get a government job in my list.
Even though there is no chemical engineering as optional subject in the UPSC mains but you can select chemistry as optional subject because you will learn Chemistry a lot in that engineering branch and
you can obviously save time and score good marks in that subject as it is a scoring subject and you can also qualify CSAT paper with your problem solving skills that you learn in UG
You can also get many government jobs like you can apply for state public service commission exams at the same time you can also apply for IES and get a government job and obviously, you can get a chance to work in public sector undertaking companies like IOCL, NHPC, Coal India, etc.
